Hi! I'm Matt Bolton. I am a photographer and student meteorologist in Central Florida.
I have had a life-long interest in meteorology; and, in conjunction with that interest, pursue photography semi-professionally.
My interest in photography grew from years of cloud-watching, and, as a result, my photographic pursuits are focused (pun intended!) largely around weather, nature, and land and city scapes. I do, however, also shoot portraiture, weddings, and local bands.
My main goal in photography is to capture the edginess of my subjects, while maintaining, at the same time, a feeling that is subtley classic.
Meteorology has always been a deeply-rooted passion for me. In 2008, I began pursuing it pre-professionally, while in high school.
In the time since, I have been heavily involved in the West Central Florida meteorology community. I have served in multiple elected-officer positions with the West Central Florida Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), been a local weather forecaster for an East-Coast-focused weather consulting company, volunteered with a local emergency management office, shadowed with the Tampa National Weather Service (NWS) office and local media meteorologists, and, perhaps most notably, served as an intern with How The Weatherworks.
During the course of my internship, which is nearing its fifth year, I have facilitated a full redesign of the company website, assisted in the facilitation of weather learning across the country, and, among other things, conducted meteorology research - which has been presented at numerous conferences of the AMS, National Weather Association (NWA), and American Geophysical Union (AGU).
I am currently serving as the sole student representative on the NWA Professional Development Committee.
